Coupling the power of AutoCAD with Microsoft SQL Server allows faciliCAD to easily link graphical objects with database records and transform typical CAD drawings into intelligent resources. A single faciliCAD pull-down is added to the AutoCAD menu and arranged logically to guide the user through the process of entering data. All forms allow for the same database edits available in the Data Manager. This is not true of all CAFM solutions. In many cases, the end user is forced to go back and forth between applications. As in the Data Manager, the user is able to create and edit background data from the AutoCAD application. They can add and edit Spaces, People and Assets as well. The faciliCAD CAD Manager is linked directly to the database, and as a result, the end user can update the database from the CAD drawing or the CAD drawing from the database. The CAD Manager not only allows the display of the same database reports as the Data Manager, but also enables the end-user to create graphic reports and run queries.
The faciliCAD Data Manager is a data driven forms-based interface with dialog boxes arranged logically to guide the end user through the process of data entry and management. Data Manager does not use AutoCAD, so no knowledge of AutoCAD is required by the user and no AutoCAD license is tied up. The Data Manager can be used to create background data such as Spatial Locations, Organizational Hierarchies, Room Types and more. It is also used to add and edit Spaces, Employees and Assets. The Data Manager allows the user to generate and display standard reports as well as customized reports (if applicable).
Data Import Manager
The Data Import Manager is used to keep the faciliCAD database information current with an organizations HR database. Either on-demand or when scheduled, the Data Input Manager application will detect the presence of a new file in the target folder. The application will import the data from the latest CSV file and import its data into a staging table in the faciliCAD database. The application will then, Validate and cleanse data in the staging table. If a record staging table cannot be inserted into the faciliCAD database (due to a Primary or Foreign Key constraint or some other validation error) It will remain in the staging table until that record is corrected). Any invalid record will be marked with a status code, 'Do Not Export', identifying that record as invalid for export to the faciliCAD database. The application will export all valid records into the employee tables in the faciliCAD database and update any existing fields in linked tables (i.e.: Vacancy in rooms table, Org infer in Room Allocation table, etc.)
The faciliCAD Web Manager is a separate web-based application that can be installed either as an internet or intranet application. This makes it possible to access the faciliCAD data from any web browser. It is installed as an unlimited-user application. If required, security with controlled log-ins can be implemented as well. There is virtually no learning curve which makes it easy to implement in any organization in a short period of time. It contains both data and graphic interfaces. faciliCAD Web Manager is an unlimited-user browser-based application and may be shared with as many people within the organization as desired. There are no user-licenses to track and it may be viewed on smart phones, tablets, iPads and net books, as well as, PCs. The faciliCAD Web Manager combines tabular information from the faciliCAD database with graphic information from the faciliCAD AutoCAD drawings. If a value is changed in the CAD manager or the Data Manager, this updated information is instantly displayed in the Web Manager. It is the perfect tool for data extraction and reporting in both hard copy output and electronic file output or to display live data during a meeting or an end-user search.
